The Manchester International Festival - the world's first international festival of original and new work

Damon Albarn, Ennio Moricone and Turner Prize winner Steve McQueen are just a few of the artists who will take part in the Manchester International Festival next June and July.

For two weeks this summer Manchester will be animated by some of the world's leading artists in the world's only Festival of original and new work. The Festival has commissioned over 10 world premieres from some of the worlds most talented musicians, artists, writers, performers and new talent ranging from pop culture to opera to film. Many of the shows will then move on to tour other countries such as Paris, Berlin and New York.

To provide a taste of what's to come, the Festival have premiered 3 Pre-Festival Commissions starting with animated band Gorillaz who premiered their Demon Days Live Tour at Manchester's Opera House Theatre in November 2005.

MIF is exactly the kind of event that excites us. A cultural world first in Manchester is a great opportunity for the city, its people and business community and is set to attract thousands of visitors to the region.

One of our key considerations when sponsoring events is how we can get our own people and customers involved. In September 2006 we launched a 'Guess Who' multi media campaign designed to do exactly that. The campaign uses 4 mystery Festival artists and features in all of our Manchester buildings. Visit http://www.bruntwood.co.uk/mif to find out more. We will also initiate an ambitious hospitality programme ensuring all of our stakeholders have the chance to take part and experience the events.

Manchester International Festival is the first event since The Commonwealth Games in 2002 to launch the city on to the international platform and, as a biennial event will continue to do so.
