The three developers, all of whom own a property in the area, are working together to totally remodel the landscaping surrounding the buildings - resulting in wider pavements, tree-lined streets and a more efficient one-way flow of traffic.
Bruntwood’s Trudy Dunne commented: “We are committed to making this project work for the benefit of all who use Spring Gardens. We know that within the commercial core there are very few areas where workers can go sit and eat their lunch. As a consequence, we’re hoping to give Spring Gardens more of a ‘green feel’ so that people can enjoy some peace in the madness of the city.”
Work has already started on the project, which is located at the top end of King Street and the back of Market Street. When it is completed, it will help successfully link these two areas together.
Following completion of the first phase on Saturday March 24, Marriotts Court will reopen for the first time in three years, which is a landmark in the development of this area.
The entire scheme is due to finish on November 18 this year, and Trudy insists that the three developers will meet the deadline, adding, “Manchester City Council has an embargo period to ensure that there is no new scaffolding and hoarding goes up in the period approaching Christmas so we have to be finished – and I’m sure we will be.”
