Bruntwood raise £16,000 for Henshaws at football tournament

On Sunday 3rd June North of England property firm Bruntwood raised over £1600 for the Liverpool based Charity Henshaws with an action packed 5 a side football tournament. The event was made up of teams from across Liverpool, featuring companies such as Mitie Property and Engineering, Donaldson’s, CB Richard Ellis, Uniform, International Container Line, Laing O'Rourke , DWF and Bruntwood themselves.

The tournament is part of Bruntwood’s ongoing commitment to raise money for Henshaws Society for Blind People. A leading edge charity for blind people of all ages across the North of England. Joanna Jones from Henshaws was delighted with the event’s success, commenting,

“We are thrilled with the ongoing support Bruntwood has offered us. Days like today show
just how willing the businesses of Liverpool are to get behind a charity like us and go out of their way to help others and it’s great that everyone has enjoyed themselves so much in taking part”

Bruntwood’s director in Liverpool, David Guest commented, “Bruntwood have a long history of arts and charitable sponsorship and we are intent on continuing this approach in Liverpool. Our choice to support Henshaws was based on the fact that we can really get involved and see the positive impact this charity has on the local community. This year we’ve committed to raising £20,000, as well as providing staff time at their drop in centre running training sessions to help the partially blind get back on the career ladder.”

As well as raising money for a good cause Sunday’s event provided an enjoyable day out for all involved. The competitive spirit ran high as the teams were whittled down to a gruelling and action packed final between Mitie Property and Donaldson’s but in the end the mighty Mitie Property Services managed to take the title with a dramatic 2 - 1 victory.
