Bruntwood purchase 1 Dale Street

On Tuesday 2nd October, north of England based property company Bruntwood, completed on the purchase of Number 1 Dale Street, a grade 2 listed building at the heart of the City’s traditional commercial quarter.

The 50,000 sq ft office building is the 9th property to be added to Bruntwood’s growing Liverpool portfolio, taking their Merseyside properties up to 870,000 sq ft.
In the next twelve months Bruntwood plan to undertake a £2 million refurbishment scheme.

Jenny Westhead, Bruntwood’s Development Surveyor commented, ‘1 Dale Street will be a prime example of how to undertake an extensive internal refurbishment scheme whilst preserving the heritage of Liverpool’s buildings. It will allow us to continue our focused investment into Liverpool and bring the cities treasured buildings up to a modern high quality office standard. You should also expect us to deliver on our Bruntwood service promise, which exists in all our buildings”

Colin Forshaw, Head of Sales in Bruntwood Liverpool went on to comment, “We believe that the buildings in Liverpool’s traditional business core, have a long term and sustainable business future. We continue to be surprised at how many owners are focused on large deals and long leases, when flexibility and certainty are key components in meeting the needs of the innovative risk taking businesses in the SME sector."

"The traditional core of the City is being questioned, as the Commercial District rightly attracts high quality business. But we feel with developments such as 1 Dale Street, Liverpool’s traditional commercial quarter will continue to cater for SME’s, by giving them a varied choice of location across the city”.

The building, which currently houses the Royal Bank of Scotland banking hall on the ground floor, exchanged for an undisclosed sum. The backing hall is to remain as Bruntwood work around customers to refurbish the upper floors, in the same way that they have worked around existing customers at The Plaza on Old Hall street, delivering A grade space and attracting 22 new businesses into the property.
