On Wednesday 17th October, north of England property firm, Bruntwood successfully completed on 14 King Street, also known as Building C, Cloth Hall Court, in Leeds City Centre. Totalling 38,691 sq.ft (3,595 sq.m), this latest acquisition is their fourth since moving into the city in 2004.
Bruntwood are purchasing the building from Cloth Hall Realty, with the intention of completely refurbishing it once the existing leases to Ernst & Young and Walker Morris come to an end in March 2008.
Bruntwood’s head of sales and development in Leeds, Craig Burrow, commented, “This is a fantastic opportunity for Bruntwood to get a foothold into the traditional core of the city. Our existing 3 buildings located in the West End and the civic quarter of the city have all successfully let and we’re keen to acquire and develop as much as we possibly can within Leeds, and this purchase is a great addition to the portfolio.”
Prominently situated in the heart of the traditional office core, fronting the Leeds city centre loop, Bruntwood plan to refurbish the building to a high specification and intend to have new offices ready to occupy by summer 2008. Not only this, they intend to bring their flexible letting model right to the heart of Leeds, offering accommodation from one person upwards and from as little as one month.
Burrow comments further, “The offices at 14 King Street will, not only, be high specification; offering air conditioning, open plan accommodation, but also provide customers with lease flexibility that’s difficult to find elsewhere in Leeds. Indeed, our track record at WESTONE, where we first developed this type of offering, has been so successful; we’ve rolled the concept out across our portfolio and we’re confident the appetite for such office space will be even greater in this location.”
King Sturge introduced the opportunity to Bruntwood, with Cobbetts handling legals. GSD acted on behalf of the vendor.
