Builders had to stop work on the courtyard scheme at Booths Park temporarily when they found a startled owl lying unconscious.
The barn owl had flown straight into one of the large windows at the rear of Booths Hall and had been left stunned by the impact.
The local owl sanctuary was contacted before the delicate creature was gathered and safely cared for until they came to the rescue.
One of the rescuers at Booths Park, Tracy Waddacor, commented, “The owl sanctuary told us there had been an increased number of similar cases in the area, due to a shortage of food for the owls”, she continued, “This has left many owls feeling weak and disorientated, which results in them flying into windows they would normally see.”
Fortunately, the owl survived and has now made a full recovery. It was released back in to the wild shortly afterwards.
